2008 Presidential Election Goes to The Ellipsis “…”

My anxiety is at its peek with the Presidential election hanging out there in time. Soon we will know some things about the character of this country, its citizens, our moral compass as a nation, our political and diplomatic position in the world, and the future for our country. No matter which candidate wins, Barack Obama or John McCain, something will be determined about many aspects of this nation. Outside of what each of us, the citizens of the United States think bicker back and forth with one another about, it is our world neighbors that will have the most honest incite to the position of our country. I urge all to be mindful of this and keep this in mind for the future years.

Regardless of how this ends up, this has certainly been an exciting campaign season (for the past two years wink, wink). Barack Obama, the first viable black candidate for President of the United States; John McCain, an elder of the Senate with years of experience on how the game is played, but with the integrity of few politicians to truly work towards the best for his country; Joe Biden, another vet of the Senate with extensive experience and consistency in his positions, even when they contradicted Barack Obama’s; and Sarah Palin the first real opportunity for a woman to hold an office of the executive level of our country with a proven record of reform as well as effort of avoiding partisan politics. May the best team for our country enter that white house, and if not so, it is our duty to continue to take action to hold our politicians and government accountable. They work for you and me.

First - third party software for the iphone

I guess this is news worthy. I am not one that was so hyped about the iphone to begin with. What Wired is reporting, is continued advancement in technology for the end user. The real benefit will be gotten from other manufacturers that create similar and affordable solutions that compare to the iphone. The development of third party software will inspire more development of software for all of these smart phone devices. See the wired article for details. I found the report on frankgilroy’s tweet with a link to his blog.

Microsoft Surface is innovative regardless of what the anti-Microsoft users think.

I first saw something about the Microsoft Surface on commandn.tv. They played a parody to the original popular mechanics video clip shown below. I see a lot of possibilities with this surface multi-touch interface. It resemble much of what the movie “Minority Report” had in it, when Tom Cruise was working on finding locations for crimes that would occur. Check out this video from popular mechanics pulled from youtube. Leave your comments on this new technology and what Microsoft is doing with it.

Power Stroke woes anger buyers, drive up warranty costs

By Richard Truett Automotive News / December 12, 2005

James and Penny Schrader have bought Fords faithfully for 30 years. But persistent problems with the Power Stroke diesel engine in their 2004 F-250 pickup have unraveled three decades of brand loyalty. The Schraders, both 63, put a second mortgage on their home in Linden, Mich., to buy the $45,000 truck. Now they say they’ll probably never buy another Ford. For the rest of the story see More

Name Calling

Just something I found funny about Sen. Barack Obama’s attitude to brush off the comment about the similarities of his name to Osama Bin-Ladens. I found this on the Drudge Report, but the original article found here.
Fox’s Roger Ailes made a remark last week about the similarities between the Illinois senator’s name and al-Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden.

“I didn’t take great offense at the joke,” Obama said in an Associated Press interview while campaigning in Iowa. “I have been called worse.” My question is what is worse?

Not Just Political Banter

I received an email from my brother today. It wasn’t for the purpose of keeping touch with family, or even talk about something he is up to. The sole purpose of his digital visit was to rip on the President of the United States. Now everyone likes a good presidential joke now and then, but I am seeing something that is more than just political banter these days. Now it is no secret that I am more a conservative on a lot of political issues. However I do claim to have a liberalistic side to my personality. What I would say that defines me most as a conservative is my self discipline and will power, the way I carry myself, the ability to judge between tasteful and the dis-tasteful, the commitment to stand behind that which I believe to be true in my heart, and the sense to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Perhaps I am to one sided in my perception. However, I do know that it is the sense of responsibility that helps direct my sense of choice. On 911 the Nation stood together as one country as we should always represent ourselves. Evil came into our country to tear it apart. After that, our President George W. Bush was faced with big decisions on his shoulders. Pressure from the entire country to take some kind of offensive action. The people of The United States of America were so angry they wanted to see someone get it. Instead of running to the first thing he could have picked out, the Bush administration took some time to plan appropriately and strategically that we the United States went into Afghanistan and accomplished what we had set out to do, which was to remove the taliban from Afghanistan and give the people of Afghanistan the opportunity to become their own self governing country. The key word here is opportunity. We paved the road. I don’t believe it right to put blame on to the US for the state that Afghanistan is in today. Why did we give them the key to their “city” (country) if they weren’t ready to take responsibility for it? With out the old style of war to conquer land, all we can do is set up opportunities and promote democracy. Don’t mis-quote me, I am not saying that we are a democracy, I realize that we are a republic. My point is that everyone needs to take responsibility for that which occurs around them. If we let evil grow and expand it will act just like a cancer and grow larger and stronger. I am getting pretty tired now, but I had to get online and blog about the email that my brother sent me. As I said, SNL does well making fun of our presidents, but the harsh and ridiculous attacks on our President in the positions he has been placed, commands respect from every single citizen of the United States. George W. Bush did not cause these conflicts, but he did make decisions and committed to those decisions. If there was anyone out there that thought when we were just begining our attack in Afghanistan that we would be finished with this in a short time then those people are fools. I knew from the moment we took action at the demand of the American public, that we would be in this for a long time. Also I seem to remember our President stating when he was taking the offensive that this would be a long process. We were all behind him before, what happened? I have one more thought I am going to put out there. All the men and woman in the military are there voluntarily, Nancy Pelosi. They signed up for a job that we the people of the United States put them up to. If we think that it was a bad idea after all, then we all have to take responsibility and support our military, and our government to get the job done, not fight them from doing their job so that we may get out as soon as possible only when we ensure that the United States is in fact secure.

Make Spam Work For You or Others

As mentiond in a not so recent podcast from commandn, Leo Laporte guest appears on the show and shares a site that he had recently signed up for. Boxbe is a site you can sign up for a free email account and list all of your demographic information. The end result is that you expose your information to spammers. “Why on earth would I want to do that?!” You ask. Well the primary function is to sell your information to spammers directed to this new email you create and you make the money. You also have the option to donate any earning to charity. Another cool feature is that you get to set your price as to how much a spammer should pay for your info. It could be a very economical way for marketers to get lists together rather than using the more popular list providers like infoUSA
